I'm finally working on my USP application essay. =.=; I'm such a procrastinator. I tried not to, I swear, but the topic was so damned hard to come up with, and I'm depending on sheer perseverance alone (i.e. forcing myself to sit in front of the computer with MS Word in front of me, resisting the temptation to click on Media Player Classic so I can watch my twdramas...), but it seems I have failed anyway, because I have momentarily "taken a break" (aka "admitted defeat") after writing one paragraph of utter crap.
I am debating on whether to get an external HDD. I looked at one at PK Computer. They're having an offer, apparently, and an 80GB HDD is $130. I can afford that. But I was wondering if I should get something bigger. 100GB? 120? I suppose I'm willing to part with up to $200 for it, but I'm not sure if I actually need that much space. But as I was telling Weiqi, no matter how much space you get, it's never going to be enough. xD
Oh, I've been exercising regularly lately. That has been one resolution I've been trying to fulfil since the beginning of this year. Seems like I'm 3 months late, but who cares. Well I've only actually gone for a jog outdoors once, but I plan to go tomorrow morning as well. I've spent the rest of the days jumping rope. I'm doing about a 1000 jumps at a go right now, but I plan to double that in the next couple of days.
As you can tell, I'm trying to lose weight. You see, I bought a new pair of jeans, and I can barely fit into them and it's kind of depressing. I mean sure, I can wear them, but not without much effort, and even then, my stomach kind of spills over the edge and it's icky. >.< Not to mention that it's uncomfortable as well. But the jeans are really nice (and expensive...), so I thought it would serve as a good motivation for me to start exercising. And it worked!

New single! It's going to be released on 18 April! AHHH, I can't wait. But it's not like I'm going to buy it yet. I can only get their albums online. HMV is a leeching bloodsucker because they sell their albums for $60. Is that daylight robbery or what? And they don't sell their new singles either. I want 魔法のコトバ (mahou no kotoba)!! 2 songs for $17.44. Not cheap, but beats being not available in stores... *grumble* Maybe I should try searching in Gramaphone or Sembawang or something.

Aaahahah. I bought Relient K's Five Score & Seven Years Ago!! YAAAAAY!!
In other news: I've finished reading the HanaKimi manga. W00t. It's so funny and interesting that I'm kind of able to get over the crappy ending in the drama. Also, I'm finally reading Death Note. L-O-L. I didn't want to because everyone was reading it, but now that I am, I kind of understand the hype. Raito (Light... well, I like the romanised form of his name, okay?) is very very very interesting, and so is L. I found Raito's girlfriend annoying at first, but she's a very important character, seeing that the whole story began because of her (in a way). The manga is very wordy though. Ehh. And it's boring me just a little. But I will persevere, because I want to find out what happens next!

Figured I should blog, even though my reason for not blogging is because I have nothing much to say. Well that's kind of expected, since I don't actually do anything. I have an amazing ability to while away time in front of the computer. :D
Right now I'm having a really hard time trying to decide between NUS and NTU because both universities have their pros and cons and I'm still raging an internal debate on which to choose. Well, if only one of them accepts me then I don't think I have much of a choice. I suppose the worst case scenario would be unsuccessful applications to NTU and the University Scholars Programme at NUS, but that would kind of suck. :( I don't want a boring uni life.
Let's see. NTU has a more established communications and information programme. And reading the course details has me really interested. Furthermore they have 5 divisions which you can choose to specify in, and I'm really interested in Electronic & Broadcast Media and Public and Promotional Communication. Also, requiring a test and an interview seems to make it a more prestigious course--they're not going to accept just anybody. Of course, this means that I might not be able to get in. :S NTU is also frightfully near where I live, but the actual SCI building itself is not quite. I need to either take two buses or ride a bicycle to school everyday, seeing that I don't plan to stay in the Halls. Oh, and they have a 24 week professional internship programme. I can't seem to find any information about any sort of attachment at NUS. :/
As for NUS, I am almost certain I can enter the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, from what I've heard during the Open House and such. What's attractive is that their programme focuses more on "new media" like the internet and other more cutting-edge stuff. However looking at their course information, I am not as enticed by the write-ups. Maybe the person who wrote them isn't as good? LOL. The CNM course is also relatively new, compared to NTU's, so I'm afraid the degree might not be as "recognised", in that an employer might prefer an NTU graduate over an NUS graduate. Then again, the focus of the courses are a little different, so I'm not sure on that point. Oh, and NUS is further from my house. :P
But the huge draw that NUS has for me is their University Scholars Programme, which has interdisciplinary modules and opportunities to go on exchange programmes and summer schools with overseas universities. Those are the two big draws for me. Of course, this depends on whether I even get in or not.
Just as I mentioned a worst-case scenario earlier, the "best" case scenario would be that both SCI and USP accept me. But if that happens, I'll really have to think carefully and choose between a potentially more interesting course (which is my dubious opinion based on what seniors and various people say, as well as what I read on their website) and a very exciting programme with very good opportunities.
Ah well, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

ZOMGWTFABC! Relient K's new album. I want! I haven't looked around at CD shops yet though. Will have to make a trip down to HMV or something. Not sure if they sell any Relient K albums in the first place. I always see only one or two copies of Two Lefts Don't Make A Right... But Three Do (ehehe, long album name).

Hmm, I suppose I did okay. An AAB. But a B3 in GP. Oh fuck that. Who cares. :(
My mother is quite against me doing Mass Comm. Not that I particularly want to, anyway. I just can't find anything else that I'm more interested in. She says there are not many job opportunities in Singapore, and that her friend's niece who did really well in her A levels and took Mass Comm. in NTU ended up working in M1 or something doing customer service. Huh. Okay.
I'll probably do something like English or Linguistics then. O.o; But I've only got a B3 in GP and seriously, I can't write for nuts.
Anyway, I've sat myself in front of the computer and had a Kashiwabara Takashi marathon. I absolutely love that guy because he's so cute. :P I wish he acted in more shows though. Just finished Big Wing and am now in the middle of Koi no Kamisama. I have Rendezvous, Itazaru no Kiss and Shota no Sushi to go! But I don't think I'll actually finish them. Haha. I have a really short attention span.
When I finished The Land Of Laughs for the second time, my opinion of it changed rather drastically. Yes, I still like the books in the book: The Land Of Laughs, The Green Dog's Sorrow, The Night Races Into Anna, The Pool Of Stars, Peach Shadows; but it seems like time had erased quite a lot of the details. I still remembered certain scenes, like the one when Thomas Abbey visits the undertaker, or when he and his girlfriend Saxony first reach Galen, Missouri. But I forgot the ending, and so it surprised me, as if I were reading it for the first time all over again. I'm sad to say that I don't like it as much, now, but it will always be special, because the books that Marshall France had written all sound too good to be true. And they are.
The second book I borrowed is Voice Of Our Shadow, also by Carroll. It is written in the same vein as The Land Of Laughs, in that there's an element of fantasy in a seemingly normal setting--but that's what makes Carroll's books so intriguing--and that there's a sinister twist that holds the entire plot together. It was quite a short book that I finished rather quickly (considering the fact that I never actually sit down to read these days, ironically), but kept me flipping the pages to find out what happened in the end.
What I absolutely adore about Carroll is the fantastic names he gives his characters. His main characters usually have rather dull names: Thomas, Joseph, Miranda, Vincent; but his supporting cast is a totally different story: Saxony Gardner, India Tate, Marshall France, Hietzl (a dog, but the most fantastic one ever)...
