A Level Results & Things
(0) 00:44 Hmm, I suppose I did okay. An AAB. But a B3 in GP. Oh fuck that. Who cares. :(

My mother is quite against me doing Mass Comm. Not that I particularly want to, anyway. I just can't find anything else that I'm more interested in. She says there are not many job opportunities in Singapore, and that her friend's niece who did really well in her A levels and took Mass Comm. in NTU ended up working in M1 or something doing customer service. Huh. Okay.

I'll probably do something like English or Linguistics then. O.o; But I've only got a B3 in GP and seriously, I can't write for nuts.

Anyway, I've sat myself in front of the computer and had a Kashiwabara Takashi marathon. I absolutely love that guy because he's so cute. :P I wish he acted in more shows though. Just finished Big Wing and am now in the middle of Koi no Kamisama. I have Rendezvous, Itazaru no Kiss and Shota no Sushi to go! But I don't think I'll actually finish them. Haha. I have a really short attention span.

When I finished The Land Of Laughs for the second time, my opinion of it changed rather drastically. Yes, I still like the books in the book: The Land Of Laughs, The Green Dog's Sorrow, The Night Races Into Anna, The Pool Of Stars, Peach Shadows; but it seems like time had erased quite a lot of the details. I still remembered certain scenes, like the one when Thomas Abbey visits the undertaker, or when he and his girlfriend Saxony first reach Galen, Missouri. But I forgot the ending, and so it surprised me, as if I were reading it for the first time all over again. I'm sad to say that I don't like it as much, now, but it will always be special, because the books that Marshall France had written all sound too good to be true. And they are.

The second book I borrowed is Voice Of Our Shadow, also by Carroll. It is written in the same vein as The Land Of Laughs, in that there's an element of fantasy in a seemingly normal setting--but that's what makes Carroll's books so intriguing--and that there's a sinister twist that holds the entire plot together. It was quite a short book that I finished rather quickly (considering the fact that I never actually sit down to read these days, ironically), but kept me flipping the pages to find out what happened in the end.

What I absolutely adore about Carroll is the fantastic names he gives his characters. His main characters usually have rather dull names: Thomas, Joseph, Miranda, Vincent; but his supporting cast is a totally different story: Saxony Gardner, India Tate, Marshall France, Hietzl (a dog, but the most fantastic one ever)...
